Butterfly

Finally able to identify a brown butterfly I've seen around, Mourning Cloak Butterfly, Nymphalis antiopa.  First sighting was a couple of winters ago (and I just read that they tend to overwinter rather than migrate, so it would make sense to see one on a warm day.)  Latest was yesterday, in a cottonwood grove  in the Montlake Fill.  Picture is a little washed out, it got spooked and flew before I could adjust the exposure and take another picture.

Also had a flock of Ring-necked ducks, Aythya collaris, fly down into an otherwise (bird) empty pond while I was looking at the water.  Birds were in hiding, two eagles were prowling the sky.
