Friday - A big, dark wall of cloud builds up in the west as I walk through the Fill. Made it back inside just as the first raindrops began to fall. Roses, poppies and irises have been blooming for the past week. The winds are kicking up and the ground is littered with a layer of horse chestnut and madrona blooms, and elm seed. A week ago, it was cottonwood fluff that filled the air. Hard for me to believe we are already half-way through spring. Weeks have been flying by.
Here are some pictures of a juvenile vs. adult Great Blue Herons. Notice the lack of white on the head and the missing long white feathers, missing on the body, too. Bottom photo is an adult with full plumage.
