Wednesday

Winding down, but even with all the rain and wind the blossoms hold on.  Three from today, and three from yesterday.  No ducks today.

This one (above) somehow makes me breathe in deeply and feel more peaceful when I look at it.

Always change

Nature rushes forward.  Some trees have come into full leaf in the past week.  I have to stare at them and remind myself that they were bare during the "winter."  If I view only them, people playing frisbee on the lawn (or cricket, over the weekend), on days when it's warm, I'd believe it were already summer.

Nearer to my every day, the cherry tree explosion of blossom is winding down; leaves replace flowers day by day.  Wind shakes the petals down like snow.  Visitations thin.  In between storms there were these.

It was raining

So, only a couple of shots.  The leaves are beginning to fill in.  The crowds have thinned.  These are late afternoon.

Not deterred

More than three inches of rain over the weekend.  It was the main weekend to see the trees, crowds still arrived to visit in spite of the weather.  I did not.  The petals hung on and the remaining trees came into full bloom.  These are from Monday.

More trees pictures

The cherry trees are in full bloom, the crowds will arrive to witness them; I don't know how they know, but they do.  And it has been pouring rain all night.  The grounds will turn to mud and the trees will be loved.

I'm waiting for enough light to go for a walk.  A progression of sorts, newest to oldest.

Trees

The birds have begun to sing, early, without the time change, it'd only be about 4:30 am.  I don't mind the hour lost yesterday as I ended up falling asleep mid-day, and when I finally woke up and went for a walk, I appreciated the extra hour of light.  I do prefer the mornings to be lighter, though.

The cherry trees are blooming a little early this year, it had seemed more extreme, but I think it's only about a week or so.  These pictures are from last week, I didn't have time to check over the weekend.  The magnolias were definitely earlier, and the maples seem right on schedule, showing no sign of stirring yet.  They must have different triggers to come out of dormancy (light, heat, cold, moisture levels.)

At the lake, the clouds of insects have returned, been at least a week on those: last weekend, swarms of the type that look like they'd bite; this weekend, gnats.
