Trees

The birds have begun to sing, early, without the time change, it'd only be about 4:30 am.  I don't mind the hour lost yesterday as I ended up falling asleep mid-day, and when I finally woke up and went for a walk, I appreciated the extra hour of light.  I do prefer the mornings to be lighter, though.

The cherry trees are blooming a little early this year, it had seemed more extreme, but I think it's only about a week or so.  These pictures are from last week, I didn't have time to check over the weekend.  The magnolias were definitely earlier, and the maples seem right on schedule, showing no sign of stirring yet.  They must have different triggers to come out of dormancy (light, heat, cold, moisture levels.)

At the lake, the clouds of insects have returned, been at least a week on those: last weekend, swarms of the type that look like they'd bite; this weekend, gnats.
